SnapPro LEED’s the Way.
For almost 20 years, The Energy Foundation has worked to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy in the world’s largest and fastest growing markets. In 2007, the San Francisco-based Foundation was in search of a design firm that could capture its corporate character as well as fulfill its mission of sustainability. And these guys don’t mess around. They were going for LEED-CI Platinum certification (the highest level under the USGBC’s program for commercial interiors), and they needed a like-minded creative partner willing to rise to the challenge.
Enter TannerHecht, an architectural firm which prides itself on creating projects that enrich communities. The two firms met, and the rest is history – history in the form of the entire sixth floor of the seven-story Bently Reserve Building (formerly the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank), located in the heart of the city. The design showcases the historic building’s rugged good looks and great bones – rustic steel, brick and concrete – reducing the use of new materials in the nearly 18,000sf space.
Prudential Lighting’s diverse product line enabled the design firm to incorporate the use of advanced lighting control systems, daylight harvesting and independent climate controls which allow employees to keep things comfortable while still reducing the use of energy.
In addition, Prudential’s innovative Snap luminaire was incorporated as a dramatic, yet functional, visual design element creating a slender line of light which serves a virtual ceiling plan in the raw space.
The Energy Foundation is ecstatic with the result – a nod to building’s rich heritage, with a thoroughly modern approach to energy efficiency. (Win-win.)
