All the Angles.

Huckabee Architects utilized our BoltPro Linear throughout Memorial Elementary School with lit corners at all sorts of angles for playful wayfinding, a lot of high-energy fun. Our powder coating in 20 Premium colors with no set-up fees, for budget-friendly, fast-delivery splashes of color.

The new Memorial Elementary School (a STEM campus) represents Lewisville ISD’s desire to provide flexible, collaborative environments for students of all ages. The school serves 800 students in grades pre-kindergarten through 5th grade. The library acts as the heart of the school and a hub for learning, with classrooms and public spaces converging at its core. Folding glass and writable partitions add interest and versatility.

Collaboration spaces are included within classroom wings and provide teachers and students with comfortable spaces for small or large group work. The design also includes spaces for administration, dining, fine arts and athletics.

Students Flock.

Gaze Round Soft Edged was chosen for general ambient illumination of the Clayton High School Library. Since its reopening, students and faculty have been astounded by the renovation of the space. Bond Architects worked diligently to perfect the vision our students and faculty had for the library. Students flock to the warm, inviting, and energized spaces in the library to study, work, gather and unwind.

Hexagoooooooone!

BoltPro Hexagons sized to match acoustic hexagon panels create a stunning bee-hive aesthetic. BoltPro Linear surface mounted in the corridors for great vertical illumination.

Behind the core design concept for the new $25.8M Hawthorne Elementary School, Dallas ISD sought to provide next-generational and interactive learning opportunities for its elementary school students by creating a “hive” of student connectivity, visual curiosity and learning interaction. The highly innovative facility reconnects the campus by providing a safe, collaborative, serendipitous interior student-centered spaces that are open and welcoming, while strengthening the union of students, parents and teachers.

Truly Multi-Educational.

Snap Flair brightens up the cafeteria — a highly efficient luminaire with ideal distribution for large spaces – a wide direct throw with a splash of indirect to lightly wash ceilings in light… while our Bionic Linear illuminates a cheerful multipurpose space for younger students.

Architectural Resources, Inc. (ARI) and Warroad teamed up to successfully pass a $16 million-dollar bond referendum in May of 2016, and immediately began construction on the elementary renovation. ARI worked closely with the District and Facility Task Force to develop a plan that provided 8 additional classrooms for the early learners, improvements to indoor air quality, technology, building envelope, and student learning spaces. The elementary renovation was completed in September of 2017 and the project continued through two more phases, respectively: The Early Learner’s Addition and High School Renovation. The project was completed in the fall of 2018

Geometric Education.

Gateway Community Charters (GCC) offers a challenging, inspiring education program for students of need in the Greater Sacramento area. GCC has been remarkably successful in its mission and is now serving more than four thousand students. The Rancho Del Paso campus will be the first new school GCC constructs – a unique facility that brings together K-12 students from three existing campuses. Each school will maintain its distinct identity on the new site, coming together to share community spaces and outdoor courtyards. Every campus space facilitates learning – structural elements, building materials, and building systems are all part of the education process. Environmental transitions on campus will recognize and encourage student growth, affirming a natural progression from one grade level to another. The campus is planned as a unifying Hub in a part of Sacramento that is currently under-served by public and local agencies. Rancho del Paso K-12 presents a model for engaged, integrated learning and community service – an example of effective program and environment.

Breaking the Plane.

As a new school district, Pelham City Schools maintained a limited number of staff to oversee capital improvement and renovation projects for a comprehensive phasing plan. HPM provided the guidance and leadership with skills and expertise ranging from planning, preconstruction, estimating, project management, scheduling, field observation, quality control and contract negotiations from a team of 12 HPM experts that equaled approximately two full-time employees in cost to the client.

Sky Glow.

Bionic Linear fixtures with Top Glow uplight and Batwing distributions illuminate Arbor Heights classrooms while our P4000 Sky rounds decorate the multi-purpose room.

Batwing luminaires offer a wider, more even distribution of light, often allowing for wider spacing between rows of fixtures, thus cutting down initial fixture and installation cost, lowering energy needs. The Top Glow lens creates a visual highlight along the top of the luminaire for visual interest.

The driving concept for Arbor Heights School is Environmental Learning from Sea to Sky – a synthesis of the school’s pioneering Environmental Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (E-STEM) program. The project not only replaced the existing school, it doubled its capacity while providing additional outdoor space. The school serves as a landmark for the surrounding community with the increased greenspace, in addition to accessibility to the commons, gym, and library.

The original topography was restored to provide welcoming, at-grade access and sightlines from both streets, connect the school to the neighborhood, and improve security and stormwater management. Diverse site features encourage physical activity, casual and structured play, social interaction, and outdoor learning. Ecosystem-based themes define different zones within the preK-5 school – natural habitats and elements are illustrated with large images that depict how these concepts are embedded in nature.

Six Learning Communities are designed to accommodate the various E-STEM programs and support collaboration spaces and makerspaces. Practical sustainability strategies are embedded as building-based learning examples through daylight control, natural cooling and ventilation, and an exposed rainwater management system that tells the story of how water travels through the site.

The design supports the specific needs of 21st century learning; is cost and energy-efficient, highly flexible, durable, and sustainable; and will serve as a beacon for the community for generations to come.

The Memory of Place.

O’s and P4000 Sky rounds accent the library and common areas of Rex Bell Elementary.

Evocative of a time in which Las Vegas gained early notoriety as a destination for both locals and celebrities to share in newly established neighborhoods in an otherwise desolate community, Rex Bell celebrates the memory of place through a variety of design considerations.

Providing a safe and vibrant learning environment was of primary concern for the design team. Given the on-going challenges present in the neighborhood surrounding the site (casinos) a unique strategy for the building massing allowed for a series of internal activity areas which are not impacted by such external challenges.

Beyond providing insular classrooms and standard learning environments the design team sought to advance the character and function of otherwise neglected spaces.  As such, the main circulation corridor along the northern portion of the facility was expanded without impacting the overall area.

The school’s namesake, Rex Bell was a western movie star in the 1920’s and 30’s, married actress Clara Bow and was the 21st Lieutenant Governor of Nevada.

Sunlight-Filled School.

Alderwood Middle School features a two-story main classroom building adjacent to a one-story gymnasium, library and commons area.

Prudential Lighting’s P9000’s were utilized throughout the entry and common areas, recessed into a beautiful wood slat ceiling.

The commons is a multi-functional social and learning space, including areas for eating, socializing, performing, and gathering. The relationship of the library/commons/admin forms the heart of the school, with multi-use outdoor spaces flowing seamlessly from the Commons. A formal performance setting within the commons provides performing arts learning opportunities; computer-based technology and hands-on material fabrication allow for innovative collaboration within the CTE department and with Science and Art instruction. The project includes renovations of existing sports fields, site improvements for new sports fields, parking, bus and auto circulation, emergency vehicle access, neighborhood pedestrian connections, and significant new storm water management facilities.

The new 121,000 square-foot school sits on 19 acres and is designed to serve a student population of 800.  With 34 classrooms, a high-tech gymnasium, spacious common areas and a variously textured interior design, the school promises to provide generations of students with a rich and stimulating learning environment.
