LEED Gold Library.

See why we’re fixtures in enlightenment.

We all know that education is vitally important. And a critical part of providing that education is the environment in which its given. Case in point, the Anacostia Library in Washington D.C.

In decades past, the neighborhood surrounding the library site was anything but conducive to community and education. The architectural firms of Freelon Group of Durham, North Carolina, in association with R. McGhee & Associates of Washington D.C. stepped in to change all that, designing and building a 22,000 square foot space that was not only visually inviting but cleverly functional. Of course, using local materials and LEED-qualifying lighting fixtures from Prudential kept the purpose and intention of the library on track. There are separate spaces for adults, teens and young children, making the library welcoming and useful to everyone.

Prudential’s products helped serve the wide-ranging needs of this space, from small quiet study rooms to lighting conference rooms for 200. Light Creates Life, and in this instance, light also creates enlightenment. Being a part of the Anacostia Library of everything it means and everything it can do not only positively impacted the lives of a community, it impacted us as a company, too.
