For 55 years Prudential Ltg. has engineered and produced high quality fluorescent luminaires made right here in the USA. Whether it's collaborating with leading architects and lighting designers on a new treatment or refining a classic, successful design, Prudential Ltg. is always driven by innovation. Our national network of independent sales representatives is among the most knowledgeable and service oriented in the lighting industry. Their expertise assures that the specifications of your projects will be met with the best suited products.

Made in the USA Every product we sell directly impacts our economy because it’s made by American workers with our own locally sourced materials. Help keep America competitive globally by buying Prudential. And learn more about our support of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).

Affiliations include memberships in the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES), the Lighting Industry Resource Council (LIRC) and the U.S. Green Building Council. We are an American Institute of Architects Continuing Education Provider and registered with the Central Contracting Registry as a Woman Owned Business.

Prudential Ltg. has had its share of impressive innovations over the course of our history, yet that only encourages us to step up the pace in the imagination department. Consider the Pulse, Prudential’s latest fixture.

Designed by visionary architects and inspired by the ebb and flow along the nearby California coastline, the Pulse is a luminous sculptural form that creates a dynamic lighting environment where time, movement and nature are implied. Then there’s our new P40 series, a classically simple yet forward-thinking line of modular fixtures that can be pendant or wall-mounted.

Both of our new series offer RightLight™ to harvest daylight and illuminate with maximum efficiency. At Prudential, Ltg., there’s always a light going off above our heads.

The incredible lightness of beings. Although we seem to go on endlessly about our products, Prudential is really a company about people; and some phenomenal people, at that.

How many American lighting companies can boast three generations on staff? We can. The Holguin brothers, Mike and Steve with over 50 combined years of service used to come to Prudential with their Dad (a 20-year-employee) when they were kids. They even played with Operations Manager Jolie Ellis during summers and after school. "We've always wanted to work here," Mike said. "Growing up, we just knew that it would be in our future.

These days, Mike works in Product Development and Steve in Engineering. (So one brother thinks up new products and the other one figures out how to manufacture them.) And who's here interning during the summers? Steve's son, who plans to come on board full-time when he graduates college. His Dad and Uncle are pretty happy about that.

It has certainly not escaped our notice that over the past few years, LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) have become the green magic bullet in the media. While they are indeed on the right track, LEDs have yet to exceed the cost savings and energy efficiencies that linear fluorescent lamps. Here are the facts:

- A fluorescent lamp and ballast is far less expensive than an equally performing LED lamp and driver system.

- T8 lamps put out two times more lumens per watt than LEDs. A fluorescent lamp’s output is 100 lumens per watt while an LED’s output averages 46 lumens, even when using a high output white LED. So with a fluorescent you get more of what you want from a lamp light.

- While longevity has been touted as a huge benefit of LEDs, the longevity of fluorescent lamps is not significantly lower. Most lamps are rated between 20,000 and 40,000 hours. Of course, lamp life is affected by many factors such as length and lamp type or how often it is switched on and off. Similarly, LED life depends on ambient temperature, on and off activity, current flow and the quality of its materials. High quality LEDs have a span of 35,000 to 50,000 hours when used under reasonable conditions.

Don’t just take our word for it. Here’s a link to check out for yourself.
